David J. Schilling
Student Director for Hardin Valley Church of Christ
David is a on spiritual journey of transformation to deeply know God and reflect the love of his son Jesus!
He is married to his best friend Britni and they have three beautiful children together. Tennessee has been home to the Schilling family since 2012.
David has many interests including, disc golf, photography, camping, reading, UT sports, and grabbing coffee with a friend!
He is passionate about spiritual transformation in his own life and the lives of those around him. The Enneagram, Spiritual Disciplines, Leadership, and Spiritual Gifts are some of his favorite things to discuss! He loves helping people of all ages understand their God given talents and how to unleash those talents to create a better world.
David serves as the Student Director at the Hardin Valley Church of Christ. He has a big heart for serving the community and serving teenagers.

Martin Smith
Development Coordinator for TN Children's Home
Martin has lived in Hardin Valley for 12 years. His oldest son graduated from HVA last year and his youngest is a junior this year. They have both been involved with the Hardin Valley Youth at Hardin Valley Church of Christ.
"Tennessee Children’s Home is a Level II, group home style, residential care facility for children who have been neglected, abused, and/or at-risk. We care for boys 13 to 18 years of age. We strive to improve the lives of those we care for through quality services in a loving family environment. Those served by Tennessee Children’s Home will learn to live healthy physical, mental, social, and Christian lives.
We offer individual and group (family) counselling. This sets us apart and is the reason our recidivism rate is half of all other agencies in Tennessee. We are so thankful for all the support from the people and businesses in Hardin Valley."

Travis Thompson, O.D.
Dr. Thompson is owner and optometrist of Hardin Valley Eye Care and Optical
I grew up in the Hardin Valley area and attended Karns High School. I obtained my degree in Biochemistry at the University of Tennessee and then attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. I met my wife, Dr. Catherine Abbott, in optometry school and worked in a corporate setting for a year in Roanoke, VA while my wife completed her residency. In 2014, I purchased Hardin Valley Eyecare which is five minutes from my childhood home. Catherine worked in Sweetwater for five years as I built the practice in order to support our family and reach our goal of working together in the same practice. We had our first child, Scarlett, in 2021 and have been busy trying to keep up with her. In my free time, I enjoy cheering on the Vols football and basketball teams, playing golf, and spending time with my family.
We accept all major vision insurances and are still accepting new patients. We diagnose and treat eye diseases, prescribe contacts and glasses and love serving the Hardin Valley community.
